The Language of Culture presents 'Entrepreneurial F***-ups -- Stories of Failure'
Based on which statistics you read, between 70-85% of entrepreneurial startups will fail! In fact, we'll take it a step further -- every entrepreneur is going to fail. Failure is part of the entrepreneur's life. Success as an entrepreneur is not defined by avoiding failure, but by how you handle failure when it inevitably happens. True entrepreneurs aren't ashamed or embarrassed by their failures, they brag about them! Because it demonstrates their ability to overcome obstacles that will make others quit.

This panel discussion will feature five successful Vancouver-area entrepreneurs from a variety of backgrounds and industries, who will all share stories of their biggest failures, what they learned from it, how they overcame it, and what advice they have for others in similar situations; and will be moderated by John Lombard. It will be followed by a Q&A, for people to ask questions, or share their own experiences with failure.

For those who would like the opportunity to meet and talk with our panel of successful entrepreneurs, we are organizing a VIP lunch right after the event. Seating is limited to 10 guests, and will give you the unique chance to share your ideas, ask questions, and get advice from our panel members. Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-serve basis, so go here to get your ticket now: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/entrepreneurial-f-ups-vip-lunch-tickets-70339636747

April May Bellia presents 'Living on Purpose'
Do you sometimes feel lost or feel as if something is missing in your life? Maybe you want to make a bigger difference in the world, but you aren’t sure how. So many of us walk through life on autopilot, feeling numb and desperate for a deeper connection and meaning, but aren’t sure how to get it.

"The two greatest days of your life are the day you were born, and the day you find out why" - Mark Twain.

What is your life purpose?? If you don’t know what your purpose is and you don’t know why you are here, it can be hard to keep going.
Everyone wants to live a happier, more meaningful, and on purpose life. The way to get there is by knowing your gifts and using them in a way that makes you feel on purpose. Sacred Gifts are superpowers you have within you that allow you to do ordinary things in extraordinary ways. “Finding your Purpose” is actually a process for a better, happier, healthier life that few people attempt to use. In fact, only around 25 percent of adults cite having a clear sense of purpose about what makes their lives meaningful.

Once you discover what your Sacred Gifts are you will be free to do what makes you feel happy and fulfilled. You will no longer have to say YES when you mean NO. How would it feel to say yes with confidence and passion and be free?! You will be able to FEEL on purpose and LIVE your life doing and being what you were created for. My 60 minute presentation will be an interactive workshop and discussion about the Chaos cycle, the "Feel On Purpose Formula", and characteristics of Sacred Gifts.

“There is no greater gift you can give or receive than to honour your calling. It’s why you were born. And how you become most truly alive.” ―Oprah Winfrey

Freedom 55 Financial & Johnstone's Benefits presents 'Benefits over Breakfast: Understanding Group Benefits in the World of Startups'
The short: Coffee + Breakfast + Benefits. With an increasingly competitive startup scene, group benefits programs can often be a deal-breaker or deal-maker when it comes to finding all-stars to join your startup team. Join us over breakfast to hear which benefits have the highest ROI's and which perks can be left behind.

How do you convince people to join your team, how do you compensate them and more importantly how do you retain them? One of the hardest things about building a startup is surrounding yourself with a motivated team that you can trust and grow with. A founder's worst nightmare is high turnover in their company, and with articles coming out encouraging people to leave every 3 years, it's a valid nightmare. Come hear from experts who will help you alleviate this fear.

Join Marcus Acaster and Enoch Weng, and discover how to attract and retain quality talent in your growing Startup company. We'll be discussing:

- Creating a workplace culture that allows your team to grow with your company
- Understanding the benefits you can provide as a company and how to leverage them to keep your employees content and motivated
- This event will be helpful for:
- Founders and senior leadership of growing startups with 3 to 500 employees
- Startups who have achieved product-market fit

If you have a company that has some really spectacular team members that you want to keep around for a while, this is going to be a 'can’t miss' workshop for you. Coffee and Breakfast provided.

Fasken presents 'Minimum Viable Security: The Competitive Advantage'
With a new data breach in the news on the weekly, both consumers and enterprises are waking up to the risks of using start-up SaaSes and storing their data in the Cloud. Enterprises, under increasing compliance and privacy legislation, are now demanding their suppliers align to their cyber security requirements.

Start-ups have historically deferred addressing the cyber security elephant in the room, often arguing they are too small to be a target, security is too expensive or that their acquirer will fix security concerns later. However, it is 2019: VCs are wise to buying privacy lemons, procurement processes now include cyber security questionnaires and the start-ups who haven't taken cyber security serious are losing business to competitors who have.

This panel will discuss why privacy and security has suddenly become everyone's responsibility, what is minimum viable security for a start-up and how implementing such security foundations upfront will result in smoother sales processes and a major competitive advantage.
